Secondary Teacher - Clunes

Details of the offer

Wesley College Melbourne, a school of the Uniting Church, established in 1866, is one of Australia's leading and most respected co-educational independent schools. With an enrolment of 3,400 students from ECLC to Year 12, it comprises three metropolitan campuses in Melbourne, at St Kilda Road, Glen Waverley and Elsternwick, outdoor education sites at Chum Creek, Mallana and Lochend, and a Year 9 residential campus at Clunes.
The Wesley College at Clunes residential program provides our Year 9 students with the opportunity to learn about themselves, the wider community and our Australian culture in the unique setting of the small Victorian town of Clunes, 35 kilometres northwest of Ballarat. The focus for the 8-week program is upon education of the whole person. Emphasis is given to experiential, social and emotional learning, independent inquiry, community engagement and shared living. The Wesley @ Clunes curriculum falls under the framework of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme. The curriculum at Clunes is interdisciplinary in nature.
This is your opportunity to shine in a learning environment that will reward your love of learning and thinking, and commitment to student centred learning and collaborative practice. Applications are invited from outstanding teachers for positions of Secondary Teacher at Wesley @ Clunes. These positions are available for commencement in Term 1 – 2025.
These roles are offered as full-time offsite non-residential appointments with a requirement to teach broadly across the program. There may be the opportunity for an onsite residential appointment that can be discussed during the recruitment process. In making this appointment, the College is seeking applicants who, among other qualities can demonstrate the following:

Experience in school teaching roles, preferably within middle school and/or residential educational contexts.
A strong background managing students in practical and applied learning settings.
Success as a pastoral leader, able to lead students in maintaining student well-being.
Understanding of the social and emotional learning needs of adolescents.
A proven ability to inspire students and to engage staff, parents and the community.
Knowledge of the National Curriculum and/or experience with the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme.
A personal presence and highly effective communication skills in relationships with students, staff and parents.
A capacity to enjoy the rich diversity of daily life at the school and to contribute to the overall success of the program.
An understanding and commitment to a residential learning environment and a willingness to work across a seven-day roster, including some night and weekend shifts.

This is your opportunity to join a close-knit community, shine in a learning environment and work with a collaborative team focussed on positively contributing to the development of young people today.
