About the Role:
An exceptional opportunity is available for a dedicated English/Humanities teacher to join a community-oriented school in Newport/Altona starting in Term 1, 2025, working with students in years 7-10. The school, catering to approximately 1,000 students from Foundation to Year 12 across three campuses, presents a fantastic chance to be part of a vibrant and supportive educational community. Key Duties: Develop and implement a comprehensive English/Humanities curriculum aligned with the Victorian curriculum, covering various topics such as literature, writing, grammar, history, geography, and social studies.Create engaging and differentiated lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, incorporating a combination of lectures, discussions, activities, and projects to enhance students' understanding and critical thinking skills.Encourage students to think critically, analyse information, evaluate evidence, and draw informed conclusions about humanities topics and issues. Promote inquiry-based learning and research skills to develop students' intellectual curiosity and independent thinking.Collaborate with colleagues in English, history, geography, and other humanities disciplines to create interdisciplinary projects, units, and activities that integrate multiple subject areas and foster cross-curricular connections.Engage in continuous professional development activities to stay updated on best practices in humanities education, teaching methodologies, curriculum developments, and technology integration. Attend workshops, seminars, and conferences relevant to humanities teaching.Skills & Experience: Current VIT registrationUnrestricted working rights in AustraliaDemonstrate previous experience in teaching secondary English and Humanities in AustraliaAbility to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).Offering: Teaching English and Humanities to students in years 7-10Term 1 start in an ongoing, full-time roleSalary based on experience ($76k-$115k)Working out of Altona North, Newport and/or Williamstown campusesExcellent supportive English/Humanities faculty teamThe School: Three large campuses, within Williamstown, Newport and Altona NorthApproachable management team and smaller team structuresWell-respected school within the local communityCollaborative planning model with professional development opportunitiesHow to Apply:
