Key Duties: Develop and implement a comprehensive English/Humanities curriculum aligned with the Victorian curriculum, covering various topics such as literature, writing, grammar, history, geography, and social studies.Create engaging and differentiated lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, incorporating a combination of lectures, discussions, activities, and projects to enhance students' understanding and critical thinking skills.Encourage students to think critically, analyze information, evaluate evidence, and draw informed conclusions about humanities topics and issues.
Promote inquiry-based learning and research skills to develop students' intellectual curiosity and independent thinking.Collaborate with colleagues in English, history, geography, and other humanities disciplines to create interdisciplinary projects, units, and activities that integrate multiple subject areas and foster cross-curricular connections.Engage in continuous professional development activities to stay updated on best practices in humanities education, teaching methodologies, curriculum developments, and technology integration.
Attend workshops, seminars, and conferences relevant to humanities teaching.Skills & Experience: Must hold unrestricted working rights in AustraliaCurrent VIT registration is essentialProven experience teaching secondary English/Humanities in a school within Australia preferredGraduates are welcome to apply and will be supportedAbility to provide two education-based references from the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable)Offering: A full-time, ongoing position working with students in years 7-8 in the English/Humanities domainScope for teachers to choose/have significant input into chosen textsWork amongst enthusiastic teachers who together, are building a new school!Join a new school that is actively growing- introducing year 8 for the first time in 2025Working with students in years 7 and 8 with additional year levels added in the coming yearsLeadership actively focused on staff wellbeing and work/life balanceSalary aligned with demonstrated expertise, ranging from $78,000 to $116,000Continuing opportunities for professional development and leadership in the near futureThe School: New school opened in 2024 with the introduction of year 7.
