SeaSim Research Capability Development Officer at SeaSim Research Capability Development Officer at The Australian Institute of Marine Science It is a fantastic time to join our National Sea Simulator team, we are growing, and working to continue to maintain our position as the world's leading research aquarium facility. You will play a crucial role in ensuring SeaSim maintains this position through the development of novel experimental capability to support a diverse range of national and international research projects. Key objectives of this role will include:
assisting research projects through the development of experimental systems and capability development, both experimental and observational techniques development, supporting activities in developing systems for the holding, propagation and breeding of organisms used in research programs, informing and educating users about technological and methodological advances in the field of aquarium perturbation experiments, developing proposals and leading research in experimental research on marine systems, and leading or co-authoring the preparation and delivery of scientific reports, publications and presentations on research outcomes or methods. About you You might have recently completed your degree (or higher) in a field of marine science, engineering, electronics, or a relevant discipline and be seeking a more "hands-on" role developing experimental aquarium systems. You will have experience implementing aquarium-based experimental systems and processes along with the running or supporting of aquarium-based experiments. You will have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, be a good communicator with a positive attitude and capable of troubleshooting issues as they arise.
Having a keen interest in new technologies in a research aquarium environment, and knowledge of coral (or other reef organism) ecophysiology and experimental measurement systems relevant to coral reef aquarium research would be highly advantageous.

AIMS AOF Level 4 salary ($93,934 to $106,895 per annum) plus 15.4% superannuation Located in Townsville, Queensland. Commuter car arrangements to site available 9-day fortnight Flexible Work Arrangements considered (including tele-working where possible) Generous leave provisions Free onsite gym and optional Fitness passport Relocation assistance available Please note: Non-Australian Citizens must hold an appropriate Visa with working entitlements that allows paid employment with AIMS from commencement and for the term of the appointment, depending on the relevant Department of Home Affairs current policies. AIMS may be able to consider sponsorship for international applicants for this role, however, please note that visa processing times can impact the ability for AIMS to consider sponsorship for vacancies. AIMS must meet the requirements of the Department of Home Affairs immigration policies and processes, including the necessity to test the local labour market for suitable applicants. This includes international talent pool members who are Australian visa holders who have relevant working rights.
