The Company
Join an Australian-owned and operated leader in the foodservice industry! With a national footprint and a dedication to eco-sustainability, this company delivers high-quality products and services while maintaining a strong values-driven culture. Operating from 12 sites across the country, they pride themselves on their innovative, responsive, and reliable approach, which makes them the preferred supplier in their field since the early 2000's.
The Role
As the State Manager for NSW, you will oversee operations across three key sites: Sydney, Newcastle, and ACT. Reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer, this pivotal role combines strategic leadership with hands-on management and coaching.
You'll lead a team of approximately 60 people, spanning both blue and white collar roles, while driving operational, financial, and cultural excellence across the state.
Key responsibilities: Managing daily operations, including logistics, compliance, and customer service. Leading and mentoring diverse teams - blue and white collar - to foster collaboration, performance, and retention. Overseeing recruitment, training, and performance management of state-level staff. Ensuring compliance with safety and industry accreditation standards (SQF, HACCP, ISCC). Driving financial outcomes through cost control and effective debtor management. Collaborating with other State Managers and senior leaders to achieve national objectives. To be successful in this exciting role, you will have significant experience gained within a leadership position - this could be as a Business Manager, General Manager or State Manager (ideally within Food Services of FMCG) or you may have led diverse, high performing teams in other settings - such as the sporting arena or hospitality space or even large commercial kitchens!
Ability to navigate both blue-collar and white-collar teams effectively. Open minded and inclusive, charismatic, personable, and approachable, with the ability to sometimes make tough decisions and have hard conversations as well as receive feedback. Down to earth and resilient by nature with the ability to connect and coach and to inspire and manage people from all walks of life. A proactive and approachable style, capable of switching seamlessly between strategic and hands-on. Financial literacy, including budget management and understanding of P&L (but this is also something that they are willing to teach the right person). Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with a knack for building trust across all levels. A 'One Team' approach. A strong interest in really getting to know what your people do and what the business does - from the ground up! This role offers the unique opportunity to truly own your domain, running your state as though it is your own business. You'll have the chance to make a tangible difference, whether it's fostering team culture, improving operational efficiencies, or delivering outstanding customer experiences.
