About the RoleThe Scoping and Development Officer is responsible for co-ordinating project design packages for upcoming construction projects on the DTP road network. You will be involved in civil design, management of external consultants to obtain design work, and collaborate with senior engineers within the team to review works for compliance against engineering standards and best practice.
You will report to a Senior Engineer within the Scoping and Development team who will oversee and mentor you, ensuring that you develop a solid base of engineering skills and the ability to deliver projects in the transport sector.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign Compliance: Contribute to the timely review of designs to ensure compliance with relevant standards.Network Development: Effectively monitor development on the network to ensure it is completed in accordance with designs and expectations.Risk Management: Identify risks related to developments on the arterial network and contribute to risk management.Site Surveillance: Participate in high-quality site surveillance and safety.Effective Stakeholder Management: Actively engage with stakeholders, being approachable and well-respected.Promote and support safe, inclusive, and flexible team operations.Key Selection CriteriaWe are seeking a Scoping and Development Officer who demonstrates critical thinking by resolving problems through policy or process guidelines and offering relevant insights when guidance is needed. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of concepts that drive improvements in problem-solving approaches.
The successful candidate will excel in project delivery, efficiently prioritizing and executing tasks, maintaining accurate records, and utilizing approved tools to ensure alignment with plans. A focus on customer needs and opportunities to enhance service delivery is essential, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
Strong interpersonal skills are vital, tailoring communication to diverse audiences and understanding stakeholder motivations to enhance service delivery effectiveness.

Qualifications and ExperienceExperience in transport or construction.Degree qualified in Engineering.Role Specific RequirementsShift work, evening or weekend work including occasional overnight travel may be required.
