Join our hard-working team based in Gladston.
This is an exciting permanent part-time opportunity.
You will assist in the provision of an effective and efficient pathology service to clients of Central Queensland.
The position requires Scientists to rotate within all sections through a 24hr shift roster of the core laboratory departments following appropriate training and subject to operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities:Participate in a continuous shift scientific roster by undertaking specimen reception, diagnostic testing, result validation, performing simple to complex duties in each of the disciplines and following Pathology Queensland established protocols and standards for which the Laboratory is accredited.Work cooperatively and communicate effectively within the team and with clients, both internal and external to the laboratory producing effective work output and a high quality of service delivery.Build and maintain effective professional relationships with clients and colleagues providing advice and assistance in a professional, friendly, and helpful manner.Participate in the identification, development and implementation of quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA / ISO and other accreditation / certification requirements.Develop scientific knowledge and expertise through active learning and by engaging in professional development activities.Provide education and supervision for less experienced practitioners including operational staff, students, or support staff.Assessment Criteria:Relevant knowledge, skill, and expertise, at a minimum, obtained through relevant tertiary education, but increasing commensurate with experience.Knowledge and skills, or ability to acquire knowledge and skill, of the operational requirements of a molecular diagnostic unit, microbiology discipline and core laboratory skills (Haematology, Chemical Pathology, Transfusion Medicine) and ability to perform relevant methods and procedures in each or any of these.Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member, to produce an effective work output in terms of quality and quantity.Demonstrated interpersonal skills, client focus and ability to communicate effectively.Demonstrated knowledge of, and ability to comply with organisational policies and procedures, and assist the laboratory to comply with all relevant legislative, administrative, and professional standards including meeting NATA / ISO / TGA accreditation / certification requirements.Qualifications, Registrations, and Other Requirements:The successful applicant must hold at least a tertiary Degree in Medical Laboratory Science (or equivalent) from a recognised university or tertiary institution.Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification.
Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor / manager prior to the commencement of duties.Active membership of a relevant professional association would be well-regarded but not compulsory.This position is a continuous shift position.
