Exciting Role- Temporary, Full-time, Cairns | The position will perform a diverse range of complex and highly specialised diagnostic and therapeutic testing in the disciplines of Chemical Pathology, Microbiology, Haematology and Transfusion Medicine.The roleThis role involves delivering high-quality pathology services by performing routine and complex testing in Haematology, Transfusion Medicine, Chemical Pathology, and Microbiology.
You will analyze patient specimens, validate test results, and provide scientific advice to clinical units and external clients in compliance with professional and ethical standards.
Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, you will ensure adherence to safety and quality standards, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and contribute to maintaining NATA/RCPA accreditation and ISO certification.
You will also provide training and mentorship to less experienced staff and students.The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent, with knowledge and experience in laboratory methods and clinical medicine applications.
Strong problem-solving skills, effective communication, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are essential.
This position requires flexibility to work across 24/7 shifts, including weekends, public holidays, and relief in regional laboratories as needed.About usThe Department of Health is responsible for the overall management of the public health system in Queensland.
