Scientist Molecular Biology - HaematologyThe senior scientist will apply high level scientific knowledge, skills, leadership and experience in Molecular Haematology.
Seeking the best suited applicant to apply independent scientific judgement in providing high level advice regarding the requirements for and interpretation of molecular haematology testing to both scientists and medical staff on a state wide basis in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards.
The Haematology Section at PAH provides services in Transfusion, General Haematology, Flow cytometry, Stem cell transplant and Molecular biology.
The Molecular Biology section provides state wide services in diagnostic and measurable residual disease for haematological malignancies.
Key competencies (role specific criteria) Demonstrated ability to apply high-level scientific judgement to perform, interpret and report laboratory analyses in a molecular biology laboratory, particularly in the field of diagnostic haematology.Demonstrated ability to provide scientific services of a complex nature to ensure the maintenance of professional clinical standards and established principles / procedures.Demonstrated ability to actively participate and collaborate in a team environment and to communicate effectively with clients, clinical staff, and colleagues.Demonstrated ability to provide advice to laboratory and medical staff on the suitability of testing and interpretation of results pertaining to Molecular Haematology.Demonstrated ability (or ability to rapidly acquire the skill) to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification.Qualifications, registrations and other requirements The successful applicant must hold at least a relevant tertiary degree in Science (or equivalent) including training and experience in molecular genetics.Please detail any visa conditions you may have if you are not a permanent resident of Australia.We understand that some people may require adjustments to the workplace or the way the work is performed.
