About the role
We are seeking an individual who is highly motivated to become part of a passionate, vibrant and engaged team who will be responsible for:
Performing all routine histological procedures such as microtomy and embedding.
Cut up and dissection of simple and non-complex specimens as well as assisting registrars with macroscopic dissection of complex specimens.
Maintenance of instrumentation and equipment as required.
Prepare slides for staining on automated IHC and special stains, QC slides and troubleshooting.
Compliance and adherence with Policies and Procedures, Workplace Health and Safety Procedures and Quality Assurance Processes.
About you
You are a skilled Histology scientist eager to contribute your time & experience to our busy Histology service.
You are self-motivated with a personal dedication to high-quality outcomes.
To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:
An appropriate tertiary qualification: Bachelor Applied Science MLS, Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Laboratory Medicine) or equivalent.
Well-developed Histology skills from a laboratory setting – microtomy and embedding is essential.
Proven skills & a high degree of technical knowledge in tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, routine & special staining.
Strong attention to detail, effective problem-solving skills & excellent verbal & written communication skills.
Experience in cryomicrotomy, special stains, IHC and Cut up will be well regarded.
