The Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine is Australia's most comprehensive forensic medical facility. We serve the Victorian community and the whole of the Victorian justice system, especially the courts.

We provide the justice system with evidence to underpin safe convictions and appropriate acquittals. Our doctors help investigate deaths reported to the Coroner, examine alleged offenders and assess, treat and support victims of crime.

The Donor Tissue Bank of Victoria supports patients and their families by providing safe tissues for transplantation and medical research.

Utilise your science and histology expertise to provide support and advice to the  Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine branchOngoing, Part-Time (2 days per week - 0.4FTE) opportunity to work with a high-performing and passionate team in the Victorian Public ServicePlay a pivotal role in the day-to-day provision of our Histological Science function and support our effort to provide an invaluable community service.

About the Role: Working in a collegial environment you will enjoy a large degree of autonomy as you perform all technical aspects required in a histology laboratory. You will have opportunity to showcase your interpersonal skills, think critically and apply your problem-solving expertise.
In this role you will be presented with the opportunity to support special projects and research activities and assist in the training of staff and students.
This role supports the VIFM's vision with providing a comprehensive forensic histopathology service to Institute pathologists, registrars, and trainees/students, by adopting a team-based approach to undertake the histological tasks needed to provide this service.
