YOUR ROLE IN OUR FUTURE Fixed Term Full Time Role. We are seeking an experienced Grade 3 Biochemistry Scientist to supervise the Biochemistry team in our busy pathology laboratory. In this role, you will manage the daily workflow of the laboratory to deliver a high-quality service that meets the clinical needs of Peter Mac patients. Duties will include:
Instrumentation: operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting QC/QAP: submission, review, and troubleshooting Quality system management: Non-conformance, document creation, and review Staff supervision and mentoring Staff training, assessment, and competency Your previous experience working in diagnostic Biochemistry in a NATA accredited lab, coupled with a strong focus on quality assurance, will ensure your success in this position.
The role is a full-time, fixed-term position for approximately 24 months covering backfill owing to secondment. The role reports to the Scientist in Charge: Biochemistry and is 80 hours per fortnight, including a monthly ADO. Victorian Department of Health has recently announced a program of reforms across the public pathology system in Victoria. As part of these reforms, the pathology services from the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, the Royal Women's Hospital, and the Royal Children's Hospital will transition to a new separate public pathology entity. The new model for delivering public pathology services will present an exciting opportunity to improve the scope, scale, and reach of pathology services and testing capability to all Victorians.
As this role is with Parkville, the successful candidate for this role will be initially employed by Parkville. Once the new public pathology entity is fully formed, which is anticipated to be in late 2024, this position and the successful candidate's employment (including terms and conditions of employment) will transition to the new public pathology entity.
