The Queensland Tissue Bank are looking for a Scientist to join their Donation and Recovery team. The Queensland Tissue Banks are Queensland's sole facility for the provision of donated human tissues for therapeutic use. This role involves assessing donors and recovering tissue using surgical techniques to support tissue donation and supply, including ocular, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, and skin tissues. It must be performed in compliance with relevant laws, codes, and standards governing organ and tissue donation and transplantation.

About the Role The Queensland Tissue Bank works with cadaveric and non-cadaveric tissue donors of all ages. Roles that do not have direct responsibilities associated with these functions are likely to be exposed to discussions and/or requests to support elements of this work. Perform donor assessment activities including assessing donor information, confirming consent with living donors, completing donor screening interviews and arranging blood tests; reviewing medical charts and other medical information; assessing test results; and requesting donor approval from the Medical Director. Perform deceased donor tissue recovery techniques to recover tissue, including but not limited to ocular, musculoskeletal, skin and cardiovascular tissues, according to defined procedures and within current legislative, regulatory and quality standards. Liaise and work effectively in a professional manner with clients and their carers and family, other health professionals from different disciplines, students and external agencies to achieve a client centred approach, utilising negotiation and conflict resolution skills as required. Develop clinical practice knowledge and expertise through active learning within the team and by engaging in professional development activities including completing and maintaining mandatory training requirements, participating in performance appraisal and development plans.
