Seeking the best suited applicant to join our hard-working team based in Herston. This is an exciting, fixed term temporary full-time position for 12 months. The position will perform a diverse range of complex and highly specialised diagnostic and therapeutic testing as part of a statewide tertiary referral Chemical Pathology Laboratory Service, predominantly in the Analytical Chemistry Unit.

Your key responsibilitiesPerform a diverse range of complex and highly specialised diagnostic and therapeutic testing as part of a statewide tertiary referral Chemical Pathology Laboratory Service.Review, comment on and validate analytical results in conjunction with other pathology and clinical information as required.Participate in the resolution of analytical and technical problems.Prioritise work, adjust workflow and liaise with other staff members within the work area to ensure urgent analyses are performed and maintain high level expertise across all unit analytical work to ensure continuity of service.Participate in the identification, development and implementation of quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification to ensure the delivery of high-quality pathology services to improve patient care.Supervise less-experienced staff and contribute to discussions regarding methodological and instrumental problem-solving with senior medical and scientific staff.Key capabilities, knowledge and experienceKnowledge of chemical pathology testing and its role in clinical medicine.Knowledge, skills and expertise in analytical methods relevant to chemical pathology.Knowledge, skills and expertise in the validation and clinical interpretation of results in chemical pathology.Knowledge of pathology testing and its diagnostic, therapeutic and monitoring role in disease and health.Qualifications, registrations and other requirementsThe successful applicant must hold a Bachelor of Science degree, or an equivalent qualification.
