Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN)Full-time (100%) fixed term position through to June 2028Base salary will be in the range $98,582.63 - $107,349.47 + 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 7)Based at our St Lucia CampusAbout This OpportunityThe ANFF-Qld Facility seeks to engage a Scientific Officer to support the ANFF-Qld Team in cleanroom facility operations. Reporting to the ANFF-Qld Facility Manager, the primary responsibilities of this position include providing technical support for microfabrication processes and equipment, maintaining high efficiency of operations and a high standard of cleanroom operations, and managing consumables.You should have experience working in cleanroom laboratory environments and be well-versed in safety protocols and procedures.Responsibilities will vary according to the project stage and/or areas of engineering expertise, however, core responsibilities may include:Take primary ownership of assigned technical and operational areas at the ANFF-Qld facility.Serve as a backup process engineer to support the development and execution of micro/nano fabrication projects using specialised tools and systems.Assist senior process engineers and scientists with troubleshooting and maintaining various nanofabrication tools and systems.Oversee the supply of chemicals for cleanroom use, including ordering through Unifi, restocking chemical storage cabinets, monitoring usage, and refilling as needed.Procure cleanroom materials, consumables, chemicals, and PPE via UQ purchasing systems. Ensure orders are collected, restocked in designated locations, and inventory is regularly checked and recorded.Manage and maintain the cleanroom, ensuring a high standard of cleanliness, organisation, and tidiness, including tasks such as changing sticky mats and replenishing cleanroom PPE.Manage the safe disposal of chemical waste in compliance with AIBN Infrastructure policies and procedures.About the Australian National Fabrication Facility (ANFF-Qld)ANFF-Qld is a not-for-profit research infrastructure facility established under the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS). ANFF is a network of 8 nodes distributed throughout Australia, supported by over $200 million in investment in tooling, infrastructure, and personnel.ANFF's Queensland Node (ANFF-Qld) is a state-of-the-art fabrication facility specialising in microfluidics, organic electronics and optoelectronics, biomaterials, novel semiconductor materials, and characterisation. Facilities are located within the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN) and the Centre for Organic Photonics & Electronics (COPE) at The University of Queensland, as well as the Queensland Micro- and Nanotechnology Centre (QMNC) and the Queensland Microtechnology Facility (QMF) at Griffith University.
