The Scientific Officer will have a deep understanding and skillset across various disciplines of Haematology, Coagulation, and Biochemistry testing in a laboratory setting.As the Scientific Officer, you will become part of a passionate, vibrant, and engaged team that is responsible for:Duties across disciplines in Haematology, Haemostasis, and Biochemistry.Effective communication with patients, clinical, and laboratory staff.Validation of results and provision of comprehensive reports to assist with client or clinical decisions in a time-critical manner.Well-rounded understanding of Quality control and Quality Management across various departments and solid understanding of NATA requirements/ISO 15189.Regular maintenance and basic troubleshooting on instrumentation, equipment, and manual techniques while maintaining accurate records.Participation in regular training for relevant techniques and instrument operation and engagement in ongoing departmental competency programs and external quality assurance initiatives.Customer-focused approach with well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate policies and procedures.Collaboration with Laboratory Manager and the Chief Scientists from Core Laboratory to identify areas for improvement and implement workflow enhancements for continuous laboratory improvement.About youTo be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science), or Diploma of Health Science (Pathology Techniques) or AIMS accreditation for any international qualifications.Ability to work Monday-Saturday rotating roster and participate in an on-call roster.Previous experience in a multidisciplinary clinical laboratory is desired.Current NSW Drivers Licence.Recent experience in Haematology, Haemostasis, and Biochemistry.Willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures.Self-initiative and problem-solving capabilities.Demonstrated integrity and professionalism in all tasks.Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.This role may require additional vaccination history and evidence for department-specific vaccine-preventable diseases.Benefits and WellbeingAs part of working for Healius, you will have access to a range of benefits including:A marketplace of exclusive discounts and vouchers from leading Australian and online retailers.Corporate health insurance discounts, banking benefits, and novated leasing consultations.An e-learning platform with access to a library of courses and learning paths.An Employee Assistance Program dedicated to employee health and wellbeing provided by professional coaches.Fitness Passport - access fitness centres across Australia at a subsidised rate.Career growth opportunities across the Healius network.Being a part of a large ASX-listed organization focused on delivering positive outcomes to all Australians.Our commitment to diversity and inclusionLaverty is an equal opportunity employer committed to creating an inclusive workplace.
