Work type: Full Time (Permanent) 38.00 hours per week
Schedule: Expected to work weekdays and needs to participate in the rotating on call roster

About the role We are seeking an experienced Scientific Officer who is highly motivated to become part of a passionate, vibrant and engaged team responsible for:
Performing manual and automated diagnostic testing Executing routine procedures from specimen reception to results for Pathological diagnosis, including specimen dissection Assisting with Stock Control Maintaining records and recording results in line with protocols Operating and maintaining all equipment in line with protocols Keeping current scientific knowledge Participating in Quality Assurance activities Contributing to continuous improvement and development of new assays as required Training staff Liaising with internal and external stakeholders regarding test results or referrals Complying with Policies and Procedures, Workplace Health and Safety Procedures and Quality Assurance Processes. About you To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:
Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent Demonstrated experience and skills within the respective discipline Sound knowledge of QC, QAP and troubleshooting Ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation Ability to perform duties with a high degree of independence Commitment to quality and excellence Willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies Positive attitude toward achieving outcomes and being a cohesive team member Strong time management, interpersonal, communication and organisational skills Ability to thrive in a busy environment Self-initiative and problem-solving capabilities Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy This role may require additional vaccination history for department-specific vaccine-preventable diseases.
