About the RoleWe have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and multiskilled Scientific Officer / Technical Officer to join our high performing team in a multidisciplinary laboratory located in Tamworth on a part-time basis.
The Scientific Officer will have a deep understanding and skillset across various disciplines of Haematology, Coagulation, and Biochemistry testing in a laboratory setting.
ResponsibilitiesDuties across disciplines in Haematology, Haemostasis, and Biochemistry.Effective communication with patients, clinical, and laboratory staff.Validation of results and provision of comprehensive reports to assist with client or clinical decisions in a time-critical manner.Understanding of Quality control and Quality Management across various departments and solid understanding of NATA requirements / ISO 15189.Regular maintenance and basic troubleshooting on instrumentation, equipment, and manual techniques while maintaining accurate records.Participation in regular training for relevant techniques and instrument operation, and engagement in ongoing departmental competency programs and external quality assurance initiatives.Customer-focused approach with well-developed interpersonal skills, good oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, patients, and clinical and laboratory staff, along with report writing skills and statistical evaluation of scientific data.Collaboration with Laboratory Manager and Chief Scientists from Core Laboratory to identify areas for improvement and implement workflow enhancements for continuous laboratory improvement.About YouTo be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:
Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science), or Diploma of Health Science (Pathology Techniques) or AIMS accreditation for any international qualifications.Able to work Monday-Saturday rotating roster and participate in an on-call roster.Previous experience in a multidisciplinary clinical laboratory desired.A Current NSW Drivers Licence.Recent experience in Haematology, Haemostasis, and Biochemistry.A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures.Self-initiative and problem-solving capabilities.Demonstrate integrity and professionalism in all tasks.Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.This role may require additional vaccination history and evidence for department-specific vaccine-preventable diseases.
