The successful candidate will inspire curiosity and critical thinking while adhering to the principles of Rudolf Steiner education, supporting the holistic development of students.This is a full-time position requiring a commitment to engaging and nurturing high school students (Years 7–12), maintaining a well-equipped science lab, and contributing to the broader life of the school community.Key ResponsibilitiesCurriculum Development and Delivery: Develop and implement age-appropriate teaching and learning programs that balance NESA Science syllabus requirements with Steiner pedagogy, referencing curriculum documents from Steiner Education Australia.
Deliver engaging lessons through hands-on experiments, storytelling, artistic expression, and outdoor learning, fostering a deep connection to the natural world.
Ensure that students are supported in their academic progress by employing differentiated teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs.Classroom and Laboratory Management: Confidently manage a science laboratory, ensuring it is well-maintained, appropriately stocked, and compliant with safety standards.
Create a learning environment that reflects the beauty and wonder of science, incorporating creative and aesthetic elements.
Facilitate outdoor lessons to connect students with the natural world, enhancing their understanding of scientific concepts.Professional Knowledge and Practice: Stay up to date with the most current NESA Science syllabus and compliance requirements, ensuring curriculum delivery meets state standards.
Undertake or have completed relevant Steiner education training to effectively integrate the school's pedagogical philosophy into teaching practice.
Maintain accurate and meaningful records of student progress, assessment, and reporting in line with school and NESA expectations.Community and Team Collaboration: Build strong, positive relationships with high school students, fostering a rapport that encourages engagement and curiosity.
Actively participate in the life of the school, including festivals, camps, excursions, and co-curricular activities.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, meeting deadlines and contributing to a supportive team environment.
Communicate effectively with parents, addressing student progress and wellbeing through parent-teacher interviews and regular updates.Compliance and Safety: Understand and adhere to mandatory compliance documentation as stipulated by TAWS and NESA, ensuring student wellbeing and safety.
Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to teach out of field or adapt to the school's needs, contributing to a dynamic and responsive educational environment.Selection CriteriaQualifications and Registration: Qualified Secondary Teacher, registered with NESA.
Approval to teach Science (Stages 4, 5, and 6).Professional Attributes: Competence and confidence in managing and teaching in a science laboratory.
Ability to integrate creative, hands-on, and outdoor learning into science education.
