ROLE OVERVIEW

As a Science teacher at Covenant, you will be responsible for implementing the Vision and Mission of the School within the classroom and on the sports field.
You will be expected to show godly leadership to our students, expressing the outworking of your faith not only in the way you relate to them specifically, but in all your interactions with parents, staff and across the school community.
You will deliver curriculum content from a Christian perspective and in an age-appropriate manner that encourages students to think biblically about this relevant area of study and are challenged to develop and use their gifts wisely.
You will participate in developing your professional practice through a framework of feedback and continued professional growth, supported by your KLA Coordinator
You will be further supported by our Head of Secondary School (HoSS) and Deputy Principal, with training in curriculum development and pedagogical approaches provided by our Director of Teaching and Learning (DoTaL).
Our Extension and Enrichment Coordinator and Learning Support Coordinator and their staff will ensure additional resource into these areas.
You will implement a child safe culture that promotes positive wellbeing for students and implements the school's discipline and welfare programs.
You will contribute to student assemblies, share in staff devotions, be involved in the wider life of the school and help to instill cultural expectations in Secondary School.
You will also ensure a strong Parent Partnership presence that supports our community on both a day-to-day level as well as in school events and programs, including the Class Parents program.
You will also be appropriately supported in school initiatives to maintain a proper work/life balance, ensuring your own wellbeing.
LOCATION
Located on 3.5 hectares in leafy Belrose in NSW, Covenant Christian School is 19 kilometres north-east of the Sydney central business district in the local government area of Northern Beaches Council.
With around 950 enrolled students across Prep to Year-12, we currently employ around 165 full-time and part-time staff, plus further casual staff, with all staff being active participants in their local Christian churches.
SUPPORT FOR NEW STAFF

Two weeks of Professional Development each year (January and July)
Dedicated Induction Day in January
Support package of programs and mentoring for those new to the profession
Mentoring for all new staff


CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and deliver quality teaching to students, ensuring all curriculum, teaching programs and assessment procedures are compliant with NESA requirements and school pedagogical perspectives, and aid in the delivery of curriculum content from a Christian perspective.
Provide an effective climate of learning that fosters academic and sports achievement, actively exploring ways to differentiate learning experiences and assessment in the classroom and on the sports field.
Implement a child safe culture that promotes positive student wellbeing and implements the school's discipline and welfare programs, having a genuine care and interest in each student's welfare inside and outside the classroom.
Ensure a strong Parent Partnership presence that supports our community on both a day-to-day level and in Secondary School events and programs, including the Class Parents program.
Establish and maintain a positive classroom and sports field culture that fosters clear student behavioural learning and discipline expectations aligned to the school's Student Code of Conduct.
KEY REQUIREMENTS

Committed Christian of a reformed evangelical persuasion, actively involved in the life of their local church and with a strong passion for Christian community.
Able and willing to sincerely affirm the School's Statement of Belief modelling a lifestyle that reflects Christian practice and these beliefs in their everyday work and life.
Genuine passion for, and capabilities in, Christian Education.
NESA accredited to teach in NSW and suitably qualified Science teacher.
Able to teach all years and levels of Science (preferred).
Able to work and contribute to a team.
Able to develop a culture of learning.
Competent in the use of technology as it relates to education programs.
A working knowledge of Canvas and Edumate desirable.
Good interpersonal and communicative skills.
An appreciation for, and understanding of, the unique developmental needs of students and the significance of spiritual, social and emotional learning to personal growth, wellbeing and academic engagement.
Commitment to your own professional learning and in making contributions to the broader Christian Education community, including willingness to undertake post-graduate studies as appropriate.
Able to provide a valid Working with Children Check.
