We are looking for a leader with experience in terrestrial or wetland ecosystem science to join the Queensland Herbarium and Biodiversity Science team. This management role has responsibility for directing and managing the activities in the Ecosystem, Survey and Mapping Team to deliver Regional Ecosystem mapping and Wetland extent and condition programs.

As the Science Leader of Ecosystem Survey and Mapping, you will:
Provide high level strategic and operational leadership of the team and the Queensland Herbarium and Biodiversity Science group.Ensure the successful development, delivery and implementation of new and enhanced mapping and wetland condition products and services in a timely manner, including the management of complex projects with diverse stakeholder groups, conflicting priorities and sensitive political impacts.Develop and maintain high level professional, scientific and technical expertise and skills to anticipate and respond to current and emerging issues and provide timely and high quality technical and scientific advice to senior managers to address policy, legislative and other issues.Champion our organisational purpose, values and strategic priorities, and develop and maintain partnerships to ensure the ongoing relevance of the unit's services and activities.Professionally represent the department at forums, including government, science, university and industry working groups and committee.For further information please see the role description.
