As our Science Leader - Emerging Technologies, you will:
• Maintain a high-level strategic knowledge of the application of cutting edge biological and digital technologies to Queensland's livestock industries and, in consultation with all appropriate stakeholders, facilitate, develop, and manage a portfolio of Research, Development and Extension projects that enhance the environmental sustainability, safety, profitability and growth of Queensland's livestock sector.
• Provide science leadership, advice and reporting for the application of emerging technologies to livestock industries, including industry opportunities and constraints on a state, national and international level.
• Provide leadership in both program and work unit strategic planning and operational activities, manage resources in accordance with agreed strategic and operational plans, manage complex budgets to deliver on financial targets and control expenditure against budget allocations.
• Define and effectively communicate organisational vision or sense of purpose, to lead and motivate staff in the achievement of organisational objectives.
• Share information, support, and speak on behalf of others when necessary, and deal with conflict to manage difficult individuals, issues, and situations in an immediate, direct, objective, and positive way.
• Use high level communication and interpersonal skills to strategically advance current and future collaborative links and partnerships with relevant industry sectors, mexternal funding bodies, public sector, and other relevant agencies, and attract external funding.
• Brief Animal Science Management on issues relating to emerging technologies and provide high-quality advice on management, program, and industry matters, as necessary.
• Ensure a high standard of science and scientific outputs are reported and promoted through internal and external processes, and influence the adoption by industry of new technologies, products, and practices.
• Integrate the RD&E within the Division with other science Divisions in Agri- Science Queensland to deliver both operational efficiencies and innovations to Queensland's livestock industries.
What you will bring Essential requirements
• Minimum requirements are a degree in agricultural science, science, applied science, environmental science, rural science or similar from a recognised tertiary institution, or equivalent academic qualifications.
• A current "C" class drivers licence.
• Vaccinated for QFever or willing to be or produce evidence of prior immunity.
Applications will remain current for 12 months.
