RoleThe classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges- range 1 and range 2. The primary focus of the classroom teacher is on the planning, preparation and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes. The classroom teacher engages in critical reflection and inquiry in order to improve knowledge and skills to effectively engage students and improve their learning.
We are seeking a dynamic, passionate, and adaptable Science teacher to join our team. The successful applicant will work collaboratively and, with the Science KLA, use their deep understanding of scientific concepts and emerging technologies to inspire student learning, and connect the learning with real world applications. Part of the allotment will include VCE Chemistry, and so the successful candidate must have experience in teaching Chemistry at the VCE level.
ResponsibilitiesA classroom teacher at Thornbury High School is responsible for designing and delivering an educational program for their students which is consistent with the aims and objectives of the School and the Department of Education.
The role of the classroom teacher may include but is not limited to:
Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students;Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of a curriculum area or other curriculum program within the school;Creating a calm, positive environment that is conducive to students' learning;Assessing the educational development of students, compiling and maintaining records of that development and providing reports to parents/guardians;Being actively involved in the school's professional learning program;Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings; staff meetings; camps and excursions;Undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties.Who May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
