From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity. About the Role: We are currently seeking to appoint a Part-time (0.5FTE) Schools Engagement Coordinator to join the Salvos Schools Victoria Team.
Reporting to the Schools Engagement Manager (VIC) and working alongside the national Schools Engagement Team and Victoria Public Relations Team, this role involves you delivering school workshops and developing resources to engage students with social justice and the work of The Salvation Army.
Based from the 'Salvos Schools' CBD classroom, you will deliver a range of workshops to provide social justice education to Victorian school students.
You will support the Salvos Schools Victorian team with content development and assist Salvation Army expressions across Victoria to engage school communities on a local level.
The role also requires some administrative tasks, such as maintaining the school bookings register and supporting activities for key campaigns, such as the Red Shield Appeal.
Key Responsibilities: Positively facilitate school tours, workshops, presentations & activitiesPromote the Schools Engagement Team in various forms of internal and external communicationsSupport the development of key educational resources and campaign materialsEffectively complete administrative tasks, including maintenance of the school bookings registerGrow and support The Salvation Army's relationships with schoolsAssist with all aspects of program delivery, including face-to-face education, administration, safeguarding/WHS and evaluationMaintain a continuous improvement strategy for all components of the schools engagement programQualifications and Experience: Knowledge of and experience in the education sectorWorkshop facilitation experienceHigh level communication skills, both in written correspondence and verbally, including in forums of public speaking, particularly workshop facilitationCapacity to complete administrative tasks effectivelyStrong relationship and stakeholder management skillsBuilds rapports easily and effectively with a wide audience, including leadership and youthStrong knowledge of social justice issuesHigh level of competency in computer skills with Microsoft Office including Word, Spreadsheets (Excel), Power Point and InternetEducational Skills Required: Experience in education/communications/community development/youth work/social workValid Drivers LicenceWhy work for us
