Selection Criteria A strong understanding of the challenging problems young people face with experience in working with students and their families to address mental health issues; Evidence of an ability to develop and implement early intervention wellbeing programs; Evidence of ability to help young people to increase their self-esteem, develop interpersonal skills and healthy coping skills, resolve conflicts, and manage behavior; Highly developed communication, networking, interpersonal and teamwork skills including the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of people within the school and wider community; Demonstrated experience in assessing, conceptualising and analysing wellbeing issues, and providing evidence-based direct counselling for a range of mental health issues. Excellent organisational and administrative skills; and understanding of school systems and best practices; Have an understanding of DE policies procedures in regard to mandatory reporting and information sharing. Role The role is 4 days per week.

Report to Whole School Wellbeing Team Leader in relation to the delivery and evaluation of all collective and role specific wellbeing responsibilities. Advocate, consult with staff, family and community members to create an inclusive environment. (In regards to Tier 2 interventions) Specifically, a focus on students at risk of disengagement to school through analysis of school attendance data. Provision of individual early intervention counselling for students with social concerns and emerging mental health problems. Refer students displaying serious mental health issues to the Mental Health Practitioner. This may also include supporting the creation of safety and back to school plans and/or referral documentation for external agencies (dual responsibility with WC). Organise and be involved in school events that promote positive mental health such as RUOK day (dual responsibility with WC). Work with school staff to engage parents and carers (dual responsibility with WC). Responsibilities Member of the core Wellbeing team (Whole School Wellbeing Team Leader, Wellbeing Coordinators, Student Engagement Officers, Mental Health Practitioners and staff employed as part of the National Student Wellbeing Program) who collaborate and work closely with each other to deliver wellbeing services to support the RSC community. Implement and evaluate a range of early intervention, small group (Tier 2) initiatives for students based on the collection and analysis of data regarding wellbeing and social issues identified within the school community. These interventions can include but are not limited to; helping young people increase their self-esteem, develop interpersonal skills and healthy coping skills, resolve conflicts, and manage behaviour. Engage external organisations / professionals to support student wellbeing through internally run interventions. Develop and deliver evidence based professional learning to members of the school community, including teachers, educational support staff, coaches and parents. As part of the core Wellbeing Team, collect, analyse and report data regarding wellbeing issues. As part of the core wellbeing team, undertake crisis management for student wellbeing related presentations. This will include, where needed, liaising with external specialist organisations and professionals for any ongoing wellbeing supports, (with commitment to transition students that require ongoing support to external services). Conduct psychosocial assessments identifying barriers to student wellbeing, learning and engagement. Ensure all activities are undertaken within the policy and procedure framework of RSC and DET including the maintenance of quality case notes when working with individuals and/or groups of students. Opportunity to attend any Outer East Network / regional Wellbeing team briefings and report back key information to core wellbeing team.
