ABOUT THE ORGANISATION (C.A.P.S COOLGARDIE)
Established in 1981 to address an educational system that wasn't working for Aboriginal people, C.A.P.S is a Christian-Focused Parent-Directed Aboriginal School, with three campuses across Western Australia. In the small town of Coolgardie, C.A.P.S, Coolgardie has approximately 100 students ranging from Kindergarten to Year 12. With a motto of 'The School that Builds Character', the school aspires to empower and create young, successful Aboriginal leaders within their communities.
ABOUT THE ROLE (SCHOOL PRINCIPAL)
This is the perfect opportunity to positively impact young Aboriginal lives by embracing and supporting the vision of an Aboriginal-initiated and run school in pursing relevant and effective education. This position presents a wonderful opportunity to further enhance an established team who are all committed to fostering culturally relevant practices that resonate with and support all students.
? Bringing a strong and visionary leadership to the school, ensuring the delivery of high-quality educational programs whilst managing the day-to-day operations
? Being responsible for the overall Christian climate of the school
? Fostering a positive and collaborative school culture that empowers both staff and students and maintains a safe learning space
? Bringing the team together, helping it grow by getting the best out of its people and planning staff professional development
? Adequately responding to state and federal government, board members and other third-party entities
? Overseeing the planning, teaching, assessing, and reporting of the Western Australian SCSA curriculum
? Embracing and putting into place the ethics of the school, helping to achieve an appropriate educational focus for the school's students.
? Overseeing grant and funds applications and planning of annual budgets for the school, liaising with the board finance committee and business manager
? Reviewing, planning, and implementation of school-related matters such as curriculum plans, analysis of data, school policies, extra-curriculum activities, codes of conduct and post-secondary pathways
? Engaging with the local community, including parents, Elders, and stakeholders, to build strong partnerships and support student outcomes, providing a role model for the school and broader community
? Leading recruitment searches for new teachers through marketing
? Leading recruitment searches for students by visiting partner communities

ABOUT YOU
Ideal Skills
Have:
» A personal commitment to promoting the ethos and values of Christianity (practising Christianity is essential)
» Strong understanding of the Australian Education System gained from previous experience
» Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders
» Experience in educational leadership, preferably as a School Principal or in a similar senior leadership role
» Significant understanding of the educational needs & challenges faced by regional + remote Indigenous students
» A fine-tuning and vision-focused nature with high expectations of what success looks like
» Professional demeanour demonstrating a "can-do" attitude and enthusiasm for the work involved in the role
» Excellent organisation skills, high attention to detail, ability to prioritise and excellent time management skills
» Strong working knowledge of IT as it relates to educational programs
» An understanding of related financial matters

» Be a strong, resilient, and hard-working leader with a focus on the long-term future
» Deal with difficult conversations, complex situations, and conflicts effectively with a focus on what is best for the organisation

» Respond professionally and sufficiently to third parties
