Position: School Officer - Instrumental Music Tutor (Guitar) Commencing Date: As soon as practicable Tenure:  Part Time, Fixed Term Classification: School Officer - Level 4  Salary Range:  $35.93-$37.06 per hour pending experience  Closing Date:  Monday, 14 October 2024 unless filled prior Townsville Catholic Education  supports a diverse region extending from Townsville to the Burdekin and Whitsunday regions in the South, North to Ingham and Halifax, South-West to Winton, and West to the border with the Northern Territory, encompassing Mount Isa and several small, isolated western towns and east to Palm Island.

About the role Townsville Catholic Education,  is seeking a dedicated School Officer - Instrumental Music Tutor (Guitar) for our following Townsville Schools.
This role is a part time, fixed term (term time) position completing  34.50 hours per week across the 3 Townsville schools until the end of the 2025 teaching year.
St Margaret Mary's College, Hyde Park (5.5 hours per week) Ryan Catholic College, Kirwan (10 hours per week) Southern Cross Catholic College, Annandale (19 hours per week) The School Officer – Instrumental Music Tutor works under general supervision of theInstrumental Coordinator to provide individual and small group instrumental music tuition to students.
Key Accountabilities The key accountabilities are as follows but not limited to, and may vary based on classroom and students' support needs.
Under the general direction of the Instrumental Coordinator is accountable for duties including: providing a program of study for individual students or group of students; setting priorities based on relevant syllabus, student goals and skill level; monitoring progress of students; reporting to parents; preparing students for external exams; preparing students for individual and small group performances.
Is responsible for monitoring student attendance and progress and planning for the achievement of student outcomes.
Is responsible for identifying emerging issues to identify and mitigate risks which may impact on student progress and achievement.
Is responsible for the reporting of student progress and providing advice to parents and the Instrumental Coordinator.
Typical Duties: Providing instrumental music tuition to individual or small groups of students.
Preparing students for external exams (eg AMEB, Trinity College of London).
Prepare students for performances, including Eisteddfod, concerts, liturgies, school events as required.
Maintaining accurate attendance records and liaising with parents in relation to absences.
Develop student timetables and schedules.
Maintain lesson plans and records of student progress and provide written reports to parents.
Instructing students in, and monitoring the care and maintenance of their instruments and music facilities.
Collaborate with other staff and Instrumental Coordinator to promote the music program within the school and externally.
Mandatory Criteria Diploma or degree qualification with appropriate experience or other relevant qualifications and experience which are acceptable to the employer.
Current Working with Children Suitability Card - The successful candidate will require a paid Blue Card before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government Current Driver's Licence Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.
Desirable Criteria Some employees may be subject to pre-employment medical assessments during the selection process.
Depending on the nature of the position, it may be necessary for successful applicants to be immunised against certain preventable diseases in order to minimise the risk of transmission.
