Job Title: School Officer: Finance and Administration
FTE: 1.0 FTE
Accountable to: Finance and Operations Managers
Recreation Leave: To be taken during December / January school holidays or other term breaks, avoiding peak financial deadlines (Audit and EOFY)

Primary Objective:
Under the direction of the Principal and Finance Manager, provide a high level of support for the financial operations of the College and be responsible for a number of financial processes including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, audit preparation support, ensuring all work is completed in a transparent, accurate, efficient and reliable manner in accordance with College and CENT policies, other applicable laws and regulations and Australian Accounting Standards.
General Responsibilities:
Provide a safe and secure environment to all students and have a strong personal commitment to uphold the Catholic Ethos and Mission of the College. Work as a member of the finance and administration team. Support the Administration Team with the delivery of service including major College events outside of regular hours (as required). Undertake relevant project work as required and any other tasks as requested by the Finance Manager, Operations Manager or Principal. Finance Responsibilities:
Undertake monthly general ledger reconciliations as required. Assist in preparing and processing quarterly BAS returns. Support the Finance Manager in preparing documentation and reports for budgets, audits, College Advisory Board meetings, grant acquittals, and other ad hoc reports. Manage family accounts: manage the billing process, send statements to families, receive payments, debt collection, and reconciliation of family accounts. Manage other school debtors: prepare and send invoices and receive payments. Manage creditors: prepare purchase orders for authorisation, enter invoices, reconcile statements, and prepare EFT payments. Manage petty cash and withdrawal/banking of cash. Reconcile bank and other ledger accounts monthly. Maintain expenditure records and budgets and update the Finance Manager on progress. Prepare grant applications and acquittal documentation. Prepare student enrolment and attendance reports for ABSTUDY submissions. Reconcile ABSTUDY student accounts and liaise with Services Australia ABSTUDY for collection of outstanding ABSTUDY payments. Other duties as directed by the Finance Manager and/or Principal. Selection Criteria:
Bachelor or master's qualification in Finance, Commerce or Accounting. A commitment to support and contribute to the Catholic Ethos, Mission, Vision and Identity of the College. 1-3 years' experience in an accounting/finance role. Be a fit and proper person to work in Finance and a Child Safe environment including undertaking a National Police Clearance and maintaining a current Northern Territory Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card). High level interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate appropriately, effectively and professionally with a range of stakeholders from a diverse range of backgrounds. Highly developed organisational, time management, and communication skills (written and oral). Highly developed sense of responsibility for finance, payroll and associated processes. Ability to build trust and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Ability to work in accordance with the College's systems, processes, policies, and legislation. Highly Desired:
Experience using Technology One CiA software, intermediate Excel skills as well as the capacity to learn the student management system (CES). Previous experience in accounts payable/accounts receivable position. This position involves working with children.
