Its original location was on the Bruce Highway in the small township of Edmonton - an area that had been originally established as a sugar-milling town to serve the many surrounding sugarcane farms. Since those early days, the school has undergone many changes in its history and was renamed in 1965 to that of St Therese's School. In 1995, the school was relocated to its current position where it has continued to grow in order to meet the growing enrolment numbers that have resulted from the development of residential areas south of the city. Today, it has an enrolment of approximately 620 students, Prep to Year 6. The school is proud of its rich historical story as well as the modern facilities that are now available to students, enabling a holisitic and quality educational learning environment. 2011 saw the completion of the school master plan following $5.5 million in combined capital projects undertaken as part of the Building the Education Revolution and planned facilities expansion.About the RoleThe typical duties of a School Learning Officer include but are not limited to;Assist with evaluating and assessing the learning needs of students while under the direction and / or supervision of the classroom teacher.Work with students according to the directions / lesson plans given by the class teacherProvide physical assistance to students where necessary and appropriate.Participate in planning days with team teachers to discuss student needsProvide support to students with social / emotional needs in the form of supervising a student when time-out from the classroom for a short period is needed; developing a close rapport with students to be a contact person if needed.Adhere to individual classroom rules, expectations, incentive schemes and behaviour management plans as informed by the classroom teacher.Assist with in-class support programmes as directed by the classroom teacherReport regularly to the classroom teacher on student progressAssist with group work in Literacy block time if appropriate for the year level and as directed by the classroom teacher.Keep personal records of student work sessionsAssist teaching staff in the supervision of students with all concerns / problems referred to teaching staff for resolution as required.Work RequirementsHold a Working with Children Blue CardBe fully supportive of the ethos of Catholic EducationWhat we offerAnnual Leave with 17.5% leave loadingAccess to salary packaging options to maximise your salary12.75% Employer Superannuation ContributionsAccess to long service leave after 7 years of continuous service (portability of Long Service Leave may also be applicable)14 Weeks' paid parental leaveAccess to Employee Assistance ProgramFor further information about the role, please download the Position DescriptionSchool Learning Officer Position DescriptionIntending applicants must be fully committed to creating and maintaining a child safe organisation.Catholic Education is an equal opportunity employer.Enquiries:Jodi SwattonExecutive Assistant to the PrincipalEmail:******:(07) 4081 3400#J-18808-Ljbffr
