The School is seeking applications from suitably qualified and passionate candidates for the position of School Counsellor on the Primary Campus assisting students aged from 4 to 12 years, as needed. This is an ongoing part-time position (3 days per week, 41 weeks per year) commencing 15 July 2024 or earlier by negotiation. Selection Criteria Special skills are needed and applications are invited from applicants who possess the following attributes: • Appropriate qualification – a minimum Cert IV in Youth Work or a qualification that must include competencies in 'mental health' and 'making appropriate referrals'. • Working with Children Check. • Australian Federal Police criminal record check – CrimTrac. • An understanding of relevant legislative requirements of child protection. • A high level of communication skills, both written and verbal. • Demonstrated skills in managing confidential information. • Excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to work with a range of people. • Ability to relate to young people from Kindergarten to Year 6. • Excellent time management and organisational skills. • Proficient in the use of Information & Communication Technology (for record keeping). • Ability to work as part of a team. • Ability to use initiative. • Capacity to work with individuals and small groups, as well as to present to larger groups when required. Desirable • Experience in a school environment. Qualifications Required • Cert IV in Youth Work or relevant qualification showing competencies in Youth Mental Health as a minimum. • Be working towards or be willing to obtain Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School (CEWA Inc requirement).
