Bloomfield River State School invites applications for the role of School Community Partnership Officer (Identified). In this role, you will provide support to engage with key school, family, and community stakeholders to inform local place-based action plans for shared outcomes as part of the Equity and Excellence Partnership initiative targeting tailored and differentiated support to regional, rural, and remote Queensland state school sites.
About Us
Bloomfield River State School is a co-educational institution that serves students from Prep to Year 6. Located 80 km south of Cooktown, the school enjoys a scenic coastal setting with three distinct ecosystems: beach, river, and dense rainforest. It caters to the communities of Bloomfield, Ayton, and Wujal Wujal. The school has three multi-age classrooms, and its curriculum is based on the Australian Curriculum achievement standards, contextualized to fit the unique environment when possible.
Language plays a crucial role at Bloomfield River State School, with the Indigenous Language Program Kuku Yalanji being taught across all year levels. The school values strong partnerships with parents, carers, and the broader community, founded on mutual trust, respect, and shared responsibility for student education. About The Role
Responsibilities include:

Work with the school community to develop, implement, and monitor appropriate programs which raise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community awareness and participation in educational decision-making processes and which contribute to the implementation of Partnership Initiative priorities.Facilitate stakeholder engagement to support community co-design that meets the needs of the school and community leaders and encourages partnerships with other regional, state, commonwealth, and local government officers and local peak bodies.Assist school leaders and school community groups with advice and strategies for effective participation in education and access to information, resources, and services through place-based co-design processes.Provide advice on current school and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community issues and effective community consultation and place-based decision-making processes.Develop innovative and effective strategies for building relationships with all stakeholder and client groups as part of the Partnership Initiative.Mandatory Requirements For An Identified Role
It is a genuine occupational requirement for Identified roles that the position be filled by an Aboriginal person or a Torres Strait Islander person as set out in Section 7 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 for the purposes contained in Section 25 of that Act.
Verification of Aboriginality and/or Torres Strait Island heritage
For administrative purposes, in relation to an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified role, an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person is a person who identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and is either:
of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent;accepted as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community in which he or she lives.By definition, a person who is not an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cannot be employed (on any basis) to perform the duties of an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified role.
