The Glennie School is an Anglican school for girls in Toowoomba, providing an exceptional education for prep, primary, and secondary students with boarding from Year 5. About the role: Reporting to the Sport Centre Team Leaders, we are seeking to appoint several School-based Trainees to complete their Certificate III in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation traineeship.
School-based Trainees will work alongside Sports Centre Attendants, Learn to Swim Instructors, and Learn to Swim Assistants, as well as being supported by the traineeship provider and the School's VET teacher.
Trainees are enthusiastic team members, keen to assist children in developing swimming and water safety skills, and assist with indoor sporting activities.
Trainee responsibilities include: Assisting with swimming and water safety lessonsSetting up and packing away all swimming aids and equipmentMaintaining a clean and tidy centreAssisting with indoor sporting activities and events held in the Sports CentreSetting up and packing away equipment and furniture in the Sports CentreAssisting with reception dutiesCompleting all theory and practical components of the Certificate III course.Swimming classes are held in our indoor heated pools, suited to infants up to adults of all ages and abilities, and continue all year round. A number of sporting organisations use our modern indoor Sports Centre for a variety of sporting activities, events, and trainings throughout the year.
Rates of Pay: $12.64 per hour (minimum) based on your current school year level.
Trainees who successfully complete their traineeship may be offered continuing work. At the conclusion of the traineeship, you will have obtained the following qualifications:
Teacher of SwimmingPool LifeguardCPR and First AidCertificate III in Sport, Aquatics and RecreationThe Glennie School prides itself on values that require the successful applicant to be supportive of the Anglican Ethos and comply with all state and legislative requirements under the operation of an independent school.
About You: Committed to completing the traineeship, including 562.5 hours of paid work over 18 months (practical component) and the theory component.Must be an enrolled student at The Glennie School for the duration of the traineeship.Demonstrated experience in communication, teamwork, organisation, time management skills, and attention to detail.An ability to work both independently and as part of a team.Willingness to undertake a variety of tasks and learn new skills.Able to engage and work with a range of stakeholders, particularly young people and their parents.Ability to establish and maintain appropriate professional boundaries.Exceptional organisational skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to effectively prioritise work and multi-task.Familiarity with legal obligations relating to child safety, including mandatory reporting requirements.Ability to apply for a current Working with Children Check (blue card).The successful applicants must have the availability to work some weekends, holidays, and varying shift times.
