Operations near and far In the Great Sandy Desert in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia, our Telfer gold-copper mine is our fly-in-fly-out operation, comprising open pits, processing plant and an underground mine. While at site Telfer offers a diverse range of recreational activities including a gym, swimming pool, driving range, movie room and refurbished communal eatery.
Who we're looking for  We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Shutdown Scheduler to join our team at Telfer. In this role, you will play a crucial part in enhancing shutdown execution safety and productivity by efficiently coordinating labor, parts, and equipment access. Your primary objective will be to ensure minimal equipment downtime and reduced maintenance costs while adhering to our Maintenance Business Process (MBP) and Shutdown MOS.
Roster: 8 days on, 6 days off, flying on Tuesdays.
Key responsibilities  Collaborate closely with the Maintenance Execution and Operations teams to schedule and coordinate planned shutdown activities.Work with the expediting team to ensure timely delivery, kitting, and staging of parts prior to shutdowns. Prioritize maintenance activities based on statutory, safety, criticality, and urgency to minimize downtime and costs.Assist in the maintenance of SAP master data to enhance efficiency and support continuous improvement.Review maintenance metrics and KPIs, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes to optimize processes. Propose solutions based on data analysis and recurring issues to drive process enhancements.Actively promote and model positive safety behaviors, participate in safety initiatives, and address non-compliance promptly.About You The ideal candidate we are searching for will be an experienced professional who excels in coordinating complex shutdown activities while ensuring safety and efficiency. This individual will be a proactive problem-solver with strong organizational skills and a deep understanding of maintenance processes.
Other ideal requirements include: Proven experience in scheduling, planning, or a similar role within a maintenance or industrial setting.Strong knowledge of maintenance business processes and shutdown management.Proficiency in SAP or similar systems for master data management.Advanced Microsoft application experience including Project.Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple activities simultaneously. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.Our Commitment to You  Newmont is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
