We have a fantastic opportunity for an organised, passionate and enthusiastic Sustainability Coordinator to join our team. This role offers an excellent chance to drive sustainability initiatives that align with our value "passionate about our environment" and reduce our carbon footprint.
About the Role
Reporting to the Maintenance & Sustainability Manager, the Sustainability Coordinator plays a key role in developing, coordinating, and delivering sustainability initiatives. This position involves finding ways for us to reduce our environmental impact, reduce our carbon footprint, and ensure sustainability is incorporated into everything - from the Business Plan to every corner of the business.
Key Duties Include:
Sustainability Integration: Collaborate across teams to identify, develop, and embed sustainability initiatives into policies, capital projects, infrastructure, operations, marketing, and training. Standards & Accreditation Management: Maintain Ecotourism Australia accreditation, oversee audits, and explore additional certifications (e.g., B Corp) to enhance business value; ensure compliance with Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards. Environmental Planning & Reporting: Own and monitor the Environmental Management Plan, set and track annual targets, and assist with Climate Active reporting, including the selection of carbon offsets. Stakeholder Engagement & Awareness: Lead the Sustainability Working Group, manage environmental programs under Scenic World Shared, and work with Marketing to produce sustainability communications and drive engagement. Innovation & Funding: Research best practices, manage grant applications, and oversee grant administration for sustainable projects, leveraging tools and government initiatives to advance Scenic World's sustainability goals. Team Training & Development: Partner with People Experience to deliver sustainability training, ensure compliance with WHS standards, and foster a positive and safe workplace culture. To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Possess:
Relevant tertiary qualifications in sustainability, environmental science, or project management (or equivalent experience). Demonstrated experience managing sustainability-focused projects or initiatives. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication to different audiences. Proven ability to work collaboratively within small teams and across disciplines. Knowledge or experience in the tourism industry is a plus. Who We're Looking For:
