Clinical Research and Database Officer (Bone and Soft Tissue Sarcoma) 3 days/week, 12 month opportunity, with potential to be ongoing Chris O'Brien Lifehouse is a fully integrated cancer facility that takes a revolutionary approach to helping those suffering with cancer by bringing together all elements of cancer care, treatment, research, education and emotional support within the one centre of excellence. Our vision is to transform the treatment of cancer, bringing hope to the lives of cancer patients, their carers and families, and to advance the understanding, diagnosis, treatment, cure and prevention of the disease. The Bone and Soft Tissue Sarcoma Clinical Research and Database Officer role will support clinical and research teams at Chris O'Brien Lifehouse, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and the Surgical Outcomes Research Centre (SOuRCe).
Key activities include but are not limited to: Maintaining and updating clinical records in local and national sarcoma research databases - including input of data regarding histopathology, imaging, and treatment (surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy) derived from multiple electronic and paper-based medical records at various sites.Coordination of local, national and international clinical research projects – including identifying and collating clinical data, coordinating ethics and governance applications, and data transfer agreements.Experience in extracting clinical information from medical records for clinical databases.Experience coordinating ethics and governance applications and data transfer agreements.Knowledge of medical terminology, including pharmaceuticals, pathology testing, and cancer medicine, especially sarcoma.Proven strong organizational ability to set priorities and manage multiple deadlines.Knowledge of patient confidentiality and privacy requirements.Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated capacity to liaise with professionals across multiple disciplines.Self-motivated with the proven ability to work independently with minimal direction and collaboratively as part of a team to achieve shared goals.Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills.Attention to detail, accuracy in record keeping, and commitment to quality.Demonstrated ability to follow strict protocols.High level computer skills, particularly with data collection and entry, and advanced Excel skills.Comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided.
