This role entails overseeing the design, development and implementation of SAP applications, ABAP development, configuration and integration using BTP, ensuring best practice in coding, testing, and documentation. The SAP Development Lead will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external partners to address business needs and optimise SAP functionality. The role will also ensure third party software and integration development meets EBOS development and quality requirements.
Primary Responsibilities: Establish and enforce standardised development methodologies across SAP projects, including ABAP, Fiori, SAPUI5, CDS views, and integrations.Establish and enforce standardised development and design methodologies utilising BTP development and BAS toolsets.Define and document development processes, tools, and best practices to ensure consistency.Stay updated on SAP updates, trends, and technologies, implementing relevant standards.Develop a framework for rigorous code reviews, unit testing, and performance optimisation.Implement quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) processes for SAP development.Ensure all developments remain upgrade compliant and meet performance, scalability, and security requirements.Monitor and improve developer productivity while maintaining high-quality output.Ensure all SAP developments adhere to regulatory, legal, and corporate compliance standards.Maintain documentation and version control for all SAP development artifacts.Collaborate with security and audit teams to guarantee compliance with security policies and guidelines.Perform regular audits of development processes and outputs.Lead, mentor, and manage SAP developers and technical consultants.Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team.Partner with functional consultants, business analysts, and project managers to translate business requirements into technical solutions.Act as a point of escalation for SAP development issues, ensuring timely resolution.Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the alignment of development activities with organizational objectives.What we are looking for: Solid experience as an SAP Development Manager (or similar) in team management.Strong understanding of SAP development tools, methodologies, and frameworks.Strong understanding of SAP modules and integration points.Strong knowledge of SAP release management (SAP SolMan, Charm & Cloud ALM functionalities).Strong understanding of the SAP BTP and BAS toolsets.Experience managing a composite SAP landscape (S/4 Hana, SAP BTP, SAP Ariba, Satellites).Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
