About the Role Santos is seeking multiple enthusiastic Operations Specialists to join our team. This is a fantastic chance for young engineers to work on innovative projects, gain valuable experience, and grow in a supportive environment.
Based between Perth and Varanus Island, this role will operate across a 24-week continuous cycle – 8 weeks in Perth Ops Centre, 2 weeks onsite, 2 weeks off, 8 weeks in Perth Ops Centre and 4 weeks off. Initially it will be dayshift only working a 5.00am to 5.00pm but the roster will introduce nightshift in Q2-2025. The maximum number of nightshifts will be 28 shifts of 70 shift cycle.
Reporting to the Production Manager, the primary objective of this position is to monitor, operate and control offshore/offshore gas processing facilities. The skills required by the Operations specialist role are critical thinking, fault finding, trouble shooting and problem solving, as well as the ability to maintain situational awareness during both normal operations and abnormal situations.
Operations Specialists must maintain familiarity with site operations and retain the competency to carry out the site Operator (Process) role.
Key responsibilities of the role include (but not limited to):
Monitoring, operating and controlling gas production equipment to maintain the process within the safe operating limit, including offshore wells/platforms, process plant, and supporting pipeline infrastructure. Managing production streams to meet quality and production targets/nominations Minimising flaring, venting and fuel usage to reduce operating costs and meet company production targets Initiating emergency response for process or site incidents: remotely make plant safe and support the ongoing emergency response effort. Validating production data across fields and report volumes. Identify losses and equipment system availability Responding to recover deviations from the Production Plan About you The ideal candidates will be qualified Operations Specialists with a Certificate III in Process Plant Operations or a Process Engineer holding a tertiary degree in process or chemical engineering.
Strong interpersonal skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities are essential.
