The Sample Splitting Officer is responsible for assisting the laboratory function by ensuring all samples are appropriately received, logged, prepared and analysed in a timely manner while assisting with various other laboratory duties, to achieve operational, customer and quality requirements.
Reporting to the Supervisor, key responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
Receiving and logging in samples accurately.
Preparing samples for analysis by mixing, blending and weighing, in accordance with sample/analysis requirements and preparation methods.
Performing routine analysis, validations and project work in an efficient and effective manner.
Ensuring external and internal clients' requirements are met / exceeded.
Ensuring efficient utilisation of laboratory materials.
Operating, calibrating and maintaining equipment/instruments as required.
Performing quality control tests.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess the following: Certificate / Diploma in Laboratory Techniques; or equivalent qualification; or significant laboratory experience.
Experience in a commercial laboratory will be an advantage.
Experience working in a fast paced environment.
Knowledge of standard office applications, especially MS Word and MS Excel.
Strong attention to detail.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
