The role An exciting opportunity is available for a local technician to join our Mount Isa workshop on an 8 on 6 off roster, FIFO options out of Brisbane or Townsville for the right candidate.
This position is tasked with delivering expert technical knowledge and services for underground drilling equipment. This role includes but is not limited to guiding and enhancing the technical skills of our team members, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle these specialized products.
Your application of a proactive approach to ensuring machine performance will assist our customers to improve their productivity and the success of their operations, ensuring that we further expand our customer base in the area and the growth of the support team. To support you, we will supply product training and the support of our dedicated products support personnel.
Areas of responsibility All employees and workers are required to conduct themselves in accordance with our EHS Vision to achieve Zero Harm to our people, the environment we work in, our customers and our suppliers.Provide internal technical assistance to resolve issues for our customers.Carry out general mechanical duties, maintenance, repairs, and fault diagnosis work on all Sandvik Mining equipment (Specifically, Load & Haul equipment).Mentoring peers and upskilling our workshop technical knowledge of underground drills.Actively leading major workshop scoped works and machine builds, providing a high level of technical diagnosis and repairs.Performing mechanical maintenance duties as per maintenance plans while upholding the integrity of the equipment and ensuring safe operation is not compromised.Providing feedback for efficient maintenance planning improvements.Provide technical support to service personnel, providing high-level technical experience in cases of complex technical issues.Provide relevant feedback to the Workshop Supervisor and relevant stakeholders to enable improvements to the workshop and its capacity.Assist in compiling accurate data to process warranty claims for our local customers.Your profile Our team is on the lookout for an experienced Workshop Specialist, with expertise in underground drilling operations. Candidates should hold a Mechanical or Electrical Trade Certificate, or an equivalent qualification, and have at least 7 years of post-trade experience in the underground mining sector. The role demands adaptability to remote work environments and varied cultural settings.
Familiarity with Sandvik machinery relevant to our operations is crucial. Additionally, the candidate should have a track record in a similar position and be capable of providing technical training to our maintenance personnel and machine operators.
