About the role
Ventia's Telecommunications team are seeking a Field Technician to join their team based in South Australia. The Field Technician is responsible for safely undertaking all field related installations, moves, additions, changes, maintenance, and repair support for the SAGRN network and related sub-components. You'll be supporting the community and our emergency services by completing preventative and reactive maintenance on the South Australian Government Radio Network (SAGRN). The SAGRN is one of the largest and most comprehensive public safety networks in the world. The SAGRN is used by over 25 government and non-government agencies including SA Police, SA Ambulance, SA MFS, SA CFS, and many more. This is a permanent, full-time role. You will be on a rotating roster for on-call needs. You will be provided a work vehicle and all required tools of the trade. There is a high level of intrastate travel for this role.
Key duties, but not limited to: Ensure all works are completed in a safe manner. Ensure preventative and reactive tasks are performed in accordance with relevant work instructions and client SLAs. Assist in technical escalations, as required, with sub-contractors and other team members. Assist and provide input into the development of all documentation required to perform field related activities. Assist with the management and ordering of equipment and materials. Skills & experience: A trade certificate with a background in telecommunications or electrical engineering. (Highly desirable) Ability to travel and work in remote locations, sometimes independently. Experience working within an emergency services environment and networks. Experience installing and maintaining VHF/UHF/P25 radio, paging and/or microwave networks. Experience installing and maintaining DC power systems. Radio Frequency (RF) awareness certificate. (Highly desirable) A current Australian driver's licence. (MR Licence highly regarded) Industry Construction Card (White Card) / Working at Heights certificate. (Highly regarded) Ability to pass an in-clinic medical (including drug/alcohol testing) and a clean Police Check.
