About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled and qualified Safety Specialist to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
This critical role is responsible for managing GPC's drug and alcohol program, occupational hygiene portfolio, and fire safety systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and legislative requirements.
Key Responsibilities Coordinate and manage GPC's occupational hygiene management program including conducting occupational hygiene surveillance activities and providing technical advice to ensure the hygiene management system remains fit for purpose and achieves compliance;Quality assurance and reporting of GPC's occupational hygiene surveillance program;Coordinate GPC's fire safety management system, including performing the role of Fire Safety Advisor in accordance with legislation;Facilitate the drug and alcohol testing contract and random testing regimes;Conduct internal audit programs in collaboration with the Safety & Environment Systems Lead to ensure compliance with safety management system and ISO45001 requirements;Conduct assurance activities, including safety interactions, audits and verifications;Undertake and participate in projects and business improvements as directed and in accordance with Safety Business Plan;Contribute to the design and delivery of training programs related to Safety hygiene, monitoring and assurance;Mandatory Requirements: Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or similar).Desirable Qualifications: Tertiary Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Audit, or Assurance.Certification in AIOH Basic Principles of Occupational Hygiene.Competencies in respirable dust monitoring (e.g., BSBWHS409 Respirable Dust Monitoring, Monitoring Respirable Dust in Coal Mines, Minerals, and Quarries).For comprehensive information about the role and its requirements, please review the complete position description.
