Timberlink Australia & New Zealand is a sustainable leading softwood timber products manufacturing and distribution business, employing over 600 people. Our world-class manufacturing sites are located close to some of the best renewable plantation pine resources in the world - Bell Bay in Tasmania & Tarpeena in South Australia. Our fit-for-purpose indoor and outdoor plantation pine products are suitable for building new homes, renovation projects and other industrial manufacturing applications including packaging, pallets, and furniture components.
At Timberlink we embrace innovation, and this drives our constant growth. We are currently building two purpose-built manufacturing plants to adjoin our existing facilities at both of our sites. Complementing our already diverse range of products, we will be manufacturing new timber products including cross laminated & glue laminated timber (NeXTimber) and wood-plastic composite decking & screening, expanding our business into new markets in 2023. These products will take Timberlink from being primarily a structural timber manufacturer to a structural engineered timber products and solutions business.
About the role: We are now searching for a highly skilled Safety Manager for our manufacturing site based in Tarpeena (15 minutes from Mount Gambier). The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective running of Safety systems and programs at our 270 employee strong, multi-plant site, to meet relevant targets in line with the site business plan.
You will work as an integral part of the leadership group for the site, leading in all areas of safety, productivity and compliance, as well as setting annual budgets for the area and contributing to budget planning. This permanent, full-time position reports directly to the GM - Safety and is located at our prestigious manufacturing site in Tarpeena – conveniently located in wine country, 15 minutes out of Mount Gambier – an amazing opportunity to enjoy the perfect work/life balance.
Your key responsibilities will include: Work collaboratively as part of the site leadership team in a supportive role to deliver the Safety business principles and standards to the site.Actively promote and be a site role model in the areas of Work Health Safety, Environment and Compliance along with meeting stated/agreed targets for area KPIs and actively contributing to site KPIs.Support the GM - Tarpeena & GM - Safety with the development of Safety & Compliance capability and teamwork within all levels of line management and ensure that accountability for Safety management and performance is owned by line management.Ensure adherence to all aspects of business and legal compliance as they relate to the role.Assist and support all site management and the Safety Committee to develop risk management plans, improvement plans and provide guidance to managers on routine activities where improvements can be made.Analyse Safety & Compliance events/incidents and prepare relevant business reports.Work with employees and all 3rd parties relating to injury management and Return to Work.Qualifications and Qualities that you will bring to Timberlink: Cert / Studies in OH&S (qual).5 years' experience in a similar role.Excellent people leadership and management skills and committed to people development.Demonstrated track record of success in a similar role.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Timberlink is an equal opportunity employer; we encourage all applicants with the RIGHT TO WORK in Australia to apply.
