Job Description Asia Pacific Aircraft Storage (APAS) is a leading provider in aviation maintenance services located in Alice Springs. We are currently seeking an experienced Safety Manager to join our team, focusing on ensuring our operations adhere to the highest safety standards, including compliance with Part 145 Regulations and WHS requirements. The Safety Manager will be based in Alice Springs, NT Australia and report to the Head of Quality, Safety and Training.
Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures in line with Part 145 Regulations and WHS legislation. Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and lead internal investigations into safety occurrences and hazards. Design and deliver safety training programs to employees. Maintain accurate safety records and prepare reports for regulatory authorities. Act as the primary point of contact for all safety-related issues, promoting a culture of safety across the organization. Requirements Qualifications and Experience Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Aviation Management, or related field preferred but not required. Formal qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety (e.g., Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety, Diploma of Work Health and Safety) recognized in Australia. Certification in Investigation Methodologies (e.g. ICAM, TapRooT etc), and Auditing (e.g. Lead Auditor certification), with a focus on safety or quality management systems. A minimum of 5 years of experience in safety management within the aviation industry, with a strong track record in improving safety outcomes. Skills and Competencies Comprehensive knowledge of WHS legislation and aviation safety requirements. Proficiency in risk management, safety audits, and investigation techniques. Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong leadership capabilities and a proactive approach to safety management. Location Specifics and Working Conditions This role is based full-time in Alice Springs, requiring an on-site presence and direct involvement in our aviation maintenance operations.
