A bit about the roleWe are seeking to appoint an experienced and passionate Health & Safety Lead professional to drive safety performance at our distribution centre located in Truganina (VIC).
This role is positioned on the Senior Leadership team and plays a pivotal role in driving H&S strategy and facilitating leadership development and accountability.
A strong focus will be ensuring compliance with safety system and regulatory requirements and ensuring risk is effectively managed.
With a focus on collaborative leadership, you will also develop and drive initiatives that inspire awareness and ownership across teams and shifts.
You will enjoy managing safety at an operational level and building effective working relationships within a blue-collar environment.
You will also enjoy thinking strategically to champion and lead successful initiatives and outcomes.
This role is ideal for a strategic, people-focused professional passionate about H&S excellence and interested in developing skills relevant to a state-of-the-art automated warehousing facility.
What are the roles key accountabilities?Develop H&S strategy initiatives in conjunction with the Logistics Senior Leadership Team and Head of Safety.Lead implementation of the H&S strategy and targeted risk reduction activities aimed at continually improving performance.Manage the site hazard and incident reporting database including the conduct of high-risk incident investigations.Complete risk assessments for all high-risk tasks/equipment and for proposed changes in the warehouse.Ensure H&S accountabilities are clear and are fully integrated at all levels.Maintain training database and records and ensure the development of new training programs and Safe Work Practices (as required).Present incident data, safety metrics, legislative updates and industry standards to management to ensure a continued focus on material risk issues.Provide subject matter expertise, coaching and hands-on support to operations team to foster a risk-aware culture.Support Global EHS audits and site inspections as needed.To excel in this role, you will have:A minimum of five+ years' experience working as a Safety Lead or WH&S manager role.Qualifications in safety or a relevant discipline.Experience working in a similar industry (logistics, manufacturing, warehousing).Experience working with a senior leadership team to build safety culture and implement strategy within a complex and ever-changing environment.Passion for working at both strategic and operational levels.Proven ability to lead change and successfully implement H&S initiatives.Excellent leadership skills and ability to continually enhance team performance and capability through coaching and education, setting clear performance objectives and driving personal ownership and accountability.Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to influence a range of stakeholders at senior and operational levels.Strong analytical, administrative and project management skills.Proficient in Word and Excel with the capability to learn and use new computer programs.What can we offer you?Work for an amazing brand that's an Aussie household name … work with inspiring cross-functional teams and stakeholders … join a business with an unrivalled culture … what's not in it for you?
