About TAFE QueenslandTAFE Queensland is proud to be the largest and most experienced Vocational Education and Training provider in the State.For more than 140 years, TAFE Queensland has delivered practical and industry-relevant training to provide students with the skills and experience they need to build lifelong careers.TAFE Queensland been named the Large Training Provider of the Year at the prestigious 2023 Australian Training Awards.Our training is delivered to students and apprentices on-site, online, in the workplace, or on-campus to give people the skills they need to enrich their communities, support their industries, and strengthen their local economies.By working at TAFE Queensland, you can be part of a highly experienced workforce closely connected with their industries and dedicated to delivering best practices and innovative training.Your OpportunityAs the Safety Consultant (PMTS) you will be responsible for: Work in partnership with managers and staff to promote and drive a positive safety culture.Provide information and guidance, implement and monitor strategies, systems and processes to enable the region to comply with Workplace Health and Safety legislation.This position reports to the Contract ManagerThis is a Temporary, Full-Time opportunity, to 30 November 2024 unless otherwise determined.The position will be based primarily at Cairns however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.Key Responsibilities Work as part of a team in the delivery of efficient and effective workplace health and safety services to the region by undertaking assigned functions, participating in projects and working with staff to establish and meet business needs.Provide advice and monitor records to ensure that incidents are investigated in a timely manner, records are kept according to legislative requirements, and there is follow up on accident/injury investigations.Undertake Workplace Health and Safety investigations as required.Develop and implement a schedule of Workplace Health and Safety reports relevant to the various work groups in the region.Undertake surveys, research projects, and training needs analysis for the region to identify, develop, and conduct appropriate training programs.Develop and implement a schedule of Workplace Health and Safety inspections for all campuses to ensure safe work practices and environments are maintained, reporting outcomes, risks and issues.Implement and monitor relevant procedures, standards, and systems, to ensure efficient and effective work health, safety, and emergency management processes are implemented.Undertake research and development on matters relating to business functions.Ensure day to day activities align with business operations.Contribute to improvement in business processes and practices.How you will be assessedThe ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities: Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to liaise, consult, influence and negotiate with stakeholders.Demonstrated ability to communicate and monitor the implementation of appropriate Workplace Health and Safety programs, policies, procedures, work instructions, and initiatives.Experience in leading and promoting a safety culture in a complex and geographically spread environmentAn understanding of the Workplace Health and Safety Act 2011, and associated regulations, standards, and advisory codes.Displays the initiative, attitude and ability to thrive within a dynamic, challenging and changing environment.
