Safety & Compliance Advisor

About the Role Based at our Southport Depot the Safety and Compliance Advisor role will report directly to the Senior Leadership team.
You will provide support and guidance to all levels of the business regarding health and safety matters, including the onsite coordination of Fit for Work activities & assessments, documentation and training requirements.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to; As required by changing Legislation or operational practice, review amend and develop where necessary the Manuals, Policies and Procedures.
These include those on WHS, Workers Compensation and Return to Work, Transport Safety Management System, Drug and Alcohol Programs, Safe Work Method Statements, Driver and others. Closely engage with our employees & management team to ensure a continued proactive and committed approach to health and safety across our national operations. Oversee the co-ordination of Fit for Work activities including daily breath testing as well as random drug & alcohol testing. Organise and deliver relevant WHS induction and training. Assist in conducting risk assessments and investigations of workplace accidents/incidents as well as develop and implement effective solutions to improve safety outcomes. Co-ordinate RTW cases for work related injuries ensuring compliance and employee well-being during rehabilitation. Conduct weekly toolbox meetings Administration tasks & record keeping. Skills & Experience: Proven experience in safety & compliance with a minimum Certificate IV in WHS. Previous experience in the bus/coach or transport industry an advantage. Certificate IV in Training & Assessment is highly desirable Understanding of current WHS act and WHS regulations. Applied knowledge of relevant rehabilitation and safety legislation. Demonstrated commitment to safety. The ability to multi-task and work under pressure. Enthusiastic and organised approach to work, with a can-do attitude. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work in a team environment as well being able to work autonomously.
