As the Safety & Wellbeing Manager, your role is pivotal to bringing Saab's vision of 'Keeping people and society safe' to life and maintaining strong governance with legislation, through embedding fit-for-purpose safety practices and solutions.
This will be achieved through strong partnering and engagement to champion a safety culture and programs across the business, and operationalise strategies to deliver effective and efficient solutions and practices for physical safety, psychological safety, wellbeing, injury management and return to work.
Specific AccountabilitiesOperational Planning & Delivery: Lead the development and deployment of fit-for-purpose Safety & Wellbeing strategic and operational solutions, along with supporting projects and practices.
Additionally, as a PCLT member, contribute to the deployment of the broader People Strategy, P&C Plan and associated programs of work.
Physical Safety: Establish, embed and monitor systems, policies, frameworks and practices to maintain the highest standard of safety across our Australian workforce.
Critically important is a strong understanding of legislative compliance and reporting requirements and ensuring all Saab people, from the executive team down, know and uphold safety requirements.
Psychological safety & wellbeing: In addition to noted 'physical safety' requirements, ensure strategies, frameworks and programs are in place for our leaders and people to understand their role in maintaining psychosocial safety and wellbeing.
This includes taking a risk-based approach to prioritise how Saab can proactively prevent incidents.
Injury management & return to work: Oversee solutions and practices for proactive, respectful management and support of people who experience injuries and/or returning to work following an injury, their leaders and team members.
Tracking and reporting: Ensuring systems and processes capture accurate and holistic data to build insights, enable tracking, reporting and sound decision making and proactive actions is essential.
This will include systems to capture reporting of hazards, near misses and incidents in addition to setting targets and KPI's
Support the ongoing enhancement of Saab's culture aligned with company values, performance requirements and opportunities for our people to contribute in an inclusive, collaborative and positive, non-judgemental environment.
Comply with legislation and Company policies, processes and instructions, including those relating to non-discrimination, safety and duty of care and the quality management system
Perform other duties as assigned
Skills and ExperienceStrong understanding of Safety legislation, and the importance of aligned leadership capability, culture and business practices.
Experience in a safety management role, with strong knowledge across Safety and wellbeing, preferably in a fast-paced and high-growth environment.
Proven track record of developing and embedding successful strategies, process improvements and policies across Safety (physical and psychosocial) and wellbeing.
Stakeholder engagement, partnering and relationship management eg PCLT and the broader P&C team, leaders at all levels, our workforce and external partners.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to inspire, influence and embed change.
Strategic thinking, planning, analytical and problem solving capability.

Sound change management and project leadership and embedding capability.
Demonstrated understanding of/experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
Educational Qualifications and Professional MembershipsAppropriate formal Safety qualifications, plus evidence of ongoing development to remain up-to-date with changing legislation.
