Safety Advisor

Key Responsibilities:Site Safety Inspections: Conduct routine and ad-hoc safety audits and inspections of all work areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Identify potential hazards, perform risk assessments, and develop safety control measures to mitigate risks before work commences.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation, codes of practice, and industry regulations relevant to rail projects.
Safety Policy Implementation: Assist in the development, implementation, and continuous review of project-specific health and safety policies and procedures.
Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near-misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective and preventative actions.
Training & Induction: Facilitate regular safety training, including inductions for new staff, toolbox talks, and ongoing safety training sessions for all personnel.
Safety Reporting: Maintain detailed records and reports on safety performance, incidents, audits, corrective actions, and improvement initiatives.
Stakeholder Liaison: Work closely with contractors, subcontractors, government bodies, and other stakeholders to promote and maintain high safety standards.
Promote a Safety Culture: Actively engage the workforce to promote a positive safety culture, ensuring that all team members are aware of their safety responsibilities and empowered to raise safety concerns.
Key Qualifications & Skills:Qualifications: Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Risk Management, or a related field.Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (WHS) or equivalent.Relevant rail safety accreditation or industry certification (preferred).Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a HSE Advisor role, ideally within rail or large-scale civil infrastructure projects. Strong understanding of WHS legislation, risk management practices, and safety protocols in the rail or construction industry.
