About the Role The Safer Community Program (SCP) Advisor supports students and staff affected by bullying, discrimination, and other concerning behaviours by providing interventions and escalating complex cases.
The role involves screening inquiries, conducting student outreach and providing trauma-informed practices.
Your responsibilities will include:
Triage staff and student enquiries to the SCP and provide evidenced based interventions within the context of time limited case management. Escalate urgent and complex behavioural and conduct matters to senior colleagues within SCP and Student and Scholarly Services. Coordinate support and outreach to students due to welfare concerns. Maintain confidential records and documentation within online case management system. Who we are looking for The ideal candidate is empathetic, works well with peers and senior colleagues, demonstrates initiative in solving complex problems, and excels in effective communication with stakeholders, especially in critical situations.
They possess strong organisational skills, can manage unpredictable workloads, and maintain a high standard of professional behaviour with a commitment to teamwork and ethical practice.
You will also have:
A qualification in a relevant discipline, such as Psychology, Social Work or Community Services and demonstrated experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training. Demonstrated adoption of values by acting in the best interest of the University; displaying service excellence by striving to deliver beyond expectations and taking ownership of the delivery; and value working collaboratively, connecting with people and building relationships in your workplace. Demonstrated experience in the provision of case management and expertise in working with diverse service users including those presenting with challenging behaviours. Demonstrated understanding of legislation and policy frameworks relating to sexual misconduct, family violence, child safety, equal opportunity, and privacy obligations. This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check.
This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
