In this important and meaningful position, you will be working directly with students and staff to promote and ensure the safety, wellbeing and welfare of students are of the highest priority.
The Safer Community Coordinator plays a key role in triaging and responding to reports of behavioural risks and concerns, with particular focus on sexual harm (sexual assault and sexual harassment) and other complex mental illness or problem behaviours that cause psychological harm. You will provide efficient, compassionate and trauma-informed care to impacted students (via face-to-face, phone and online telehealth modes), and provide education and support to staff to promote early identification of student safety matters. You will undertake risk assessments, case coordination, referrals and liaising with appropriate stakeholders.
As an empowered individual, you will be responsible for providing education, health promotion and primary prevention activities via training, resources and tools for students and staff, with a focus on equipping and building capacity and first responder skills for identifying and referring behaviours of concern, prioritising student safety and preventing sexual harm within the University community.
Reporting to the Safer Communities Manager, you will collaborate with staff from Student Counselling and Wellbeing services and engage with risk management/advisory groups in supporting a whole of university approach to safety planning and a safer University environment.
